Be Not Afraid

January 31st, 2007

WordPressI know. Everything seems to have changed.

Allow me to explain what’s happened with a little analogy. When I was about 8 years old, my grandfather sold his ultra cool Porsche 911 and bought a Porsche 944, which he called the “old man’s Porsche.” He was tired of having to shift the old car’s gears manually and found the 911’s interior uncomfortable.

What Happened? Just like my grandfather, I got tired of shifting the gears – or in this case firing up the wretched Dreamweaver — each time I wanted to make a posting here. So starting last Monday, the site has been running WordPress software.

What this means to you? First of all, it means more updates. If they are easier to post, there’ll be more of ’em. so get ready for some crazy posting action. It also means you can now track the site using its RSS feed. (“Who is RSS?” you ask? Check out this simple explanation).

Have an opinion on this, do you? Please, share it with me in the comments section below! (another neat-o feature of WordPress).

It’s allllll who you know. Meet Gus and Hoss.

January 31st, 2007

rockstar-thumbnail.jpg My friends,”Gus” and “Hoss” (whose identities are the worst kept secret in Mystic town) won the right to see Rockstar SuperNova in concert. How did they do it? By singing, of course, karaoke-style. (It was not Gus’ first time)

Apparently, these pictures were taken after the limo picked them up and brought them to the show.

My NASCAR Moment

Kip StockwellIt might be hard to imagine how I went from broken down on the side of the road to NASCAR limelight last Sunday, but I did. More, after the jump. Read the rest of this entry »

Bio-Willie?

January 26th, 2007

BioWillieWho knew? Willie Nelson is a CEO of a biodiesel company pushing for community grown feedstock, fueling its own community’s vehicles with locally refined biodiesel. Not sure what all this means? Be the first person on your block to hear the Bio-Willie story. (From PBS)

That’s a business plan I’d like to scrutinize.

Click and Clack Chit-Chat

January 6th, 2007

Longtime friends remember that in 2001 I called into NPR’s “Car Talk” show to get some help from Click and Clack (thank you for prompting me, Anna). I must have said enough stoopid stuff because I made it to the “best of Car Talk” (which means that my phone rings off the hook on Saturday mornings).
My (in)famy reached new heights when Sarah’s coworker made a cartoon about hearing me! Thank you Matt.

Name the Bambinis

December 27th, 2006

For Christmas, Sarah’s parents gave us living creatures to care for — three shoots of Lucky Bamboo. We’re calling them our little Bambinis. As Sarah learned in her award winning 7th grade science fair project, plants grow better if you name them, are nice to them, and talk to them. We need your help naming our little friends so please hit the comment button below and give us some naming inspiration.
