The origin of River

What you see here is Sarah trying to get out of the hospital.  First the woman in the white jacket asked how old our baby was.  When Sarah said “3 days” the man in the jeans turned around to get a peek.

I went to get the car.

Predictably, one of them asked his name and Sarah gave the simple answer:  Richard.  That’s because we’ve found out that not everyone gets the symbolism:

Richard S. Hambleton IV or “R IV” and then RIVer or River.

Sometimes we may be too clever for our own good.  Or maybe not so clever.
One of Sarah and my favorite humor websites makes fun of poorly decorated cakes.  (God bless the internet?)   So imagine our surprise  that on the very day that we bring our little River home there’s a Cake Wreck post about a boy named River!  Luckily, they are mocking the cake, not the boy’s name, but still.  What are the odds?

I think that eventually people will leave it alone, just as I am sure RUSH was difficult for people to understand. The bottom line is HE IS SOOOOOOOOO PERFECT!!! Adorable and wonderful! I might just call him R4 as I had wanted to from the beginning, but Riv and River are just as suitable, he is so loved it doesn’t really matter! I loved the cake wreckers website too, thanks!!!
