READ Your Voicemail

October 27th, 2007

If you know me, you know that I have a personal pet peeve against voicemail. All of voice mail. But since March, I’ve had a service called Simulscribe, which transcribes voicemails into text and sends them as emails and text messages. (Or, you can dial in to hear the message as usual.)

If you want to try it, Simulscribe is offering a promotion. I highly recommend it!

Try Simulscribe.
Confession: I get a discount if you subscribe this way.

Best Birthday Greeting

October 26th, 2007

MarthaPic Yesterday was Sarah’s birthday and all my online ordering and FedEx-ing couldn’t best the joy Martha B gave Sarah with a simple phone call. That’s right. She decided to call Sarah and me and left the cutest most bad-ass voice mail ever.

Listen to Martha’s Message.

Sportsfans: A New Top-Draft Choice for Team Movalson (my sister and brother-in-law).

October 25th, 2007

img_movalson2.jpgBrian and Katherine Movalson announce the signing of another top draft choice to a long-term deal.

STANFORD, CA – Today, October 24th, at 9:21AM, the Movalson team announced their newest acquisition, a 9lb, 5 ounce, 20.5 inch, SOPHOMORE, William Hobson Movalson. Head Coach Katherine Movalson is doing very well and is happy to have come to agreement with the latest. “We’re thrilled to add Will to our roster and he’s expected to fit in right away!” said mom at a Stanford press conference. No word on what position he’ll be asked to play, but Black Labrador Mackinaw is looking for a young arm to throw the frisbee. When asked about her newest teammate, big sister Meredith had this to say….”Baby!!!”

Proud dad and GM Brian is realizing that really he now plays the role of equipment manager and is currently working on an application for young Will for the University of Michigan entering class of 2025.

William Hobson Movalson will make his first start at his home in San Carlos, CA on Sunday.

It’s a Small, Small, World.

pict2435.gifLast week I was in Wellesley, MA and something caught my eye. It was the license plate rim on a half-golf-cart, half-cartoon-car that is hauls people with briefcases around pedestrian footpaths. The part that caught my eye was that this silly machine came from  Ventura, California, where I grew up.

I was with a friend from India at the time and he didn’t get the signficance. So in case geography isn’t your thing either, here’s a visual:

And remember, good reader friends, that it’s a GOLF cart that made this trip. It’s a mad, mad, world.

Still Standing!

October 21st, 2007

standing-desk-with-the-sombrero-cam.jpgSurprise! A NEW post! I bet you didn’t think you’d see another one of these. I’ve been spending so much time doing indoor, unspectacular things that there hasn’t been time to generate the stories that I’d like to put up here. Lucky for me, I love what I’m doing.

Today I’m going to share a little slice of this indoor lifestyle, specifically a little bit about stand up desks. (I’ll also explain the silly hat.) Check it out after the jump. Read the rest of this entry »

Ewwwfff – Bad Crash

September 30th, 2007

2.jpgSomehow I missed this story until my mom brought me the magazine clipping, but a well known Newport boat was slaughtered hit by a well-known Maine boat earlier this summer. At the end of the ordeal? Many splinters, floatsam, and bubbles — and a boat on the bottom of Narragansett Bay.

If you like gruesome images of boats, check out the slide show, below. Read the rest of this entry »

It’s a Vespa, not a Vespee

September 27th, 2007

vespee.jpgWhen I went for a scooter ride tonight, I saw a fresh, bright yellow puddle on its cover.

I guess this is nature’s way of telling me that I really shouldn’t subject my scooter to the elements?  Ugh

Friends? You still with me?

VespanomicsI guess I owe you all a little apology. It’s been a loooong time since we last spoke. The reasons for this aren’t too interesting: I didn’t see any questions from the last post that really needed answering and, well, I’ve been doing other stuff and been quite busy at it. And not much of it seems Rushworthy.

But that’s behind us now. I come bearing a little gift in the form of a video. It was made by a fellow Vespa owner as an ode to its “Vespanomicality.” Unfortunately, he didn’t write about any ridiculously long rides or scooter vacations, but anyone who writes a song and films a music video about his scooter is pretty fly in my non-blog. (Thanks for the tip, Drew.) You can check it out after the jump Read the rest of this entry »
