The Vespa Update

April 17th, 2008

Play-Doh ScooterSadly, there’s a chance that this Play-Doh scooter I made will get more time in the sun than my real scooter.

Two weeks ago I retrieved the real Vespa from the scooter hospital where it had some body work done.  I took it to Sarah’s parents’ house because the condo association didn’t think a little trailer would look good in my parking space. (Darn urbanites!) Not wanting to see it peed on any more, we decided to keep it safe and sound in Sarah’s parents’ garage.

The trouble is, their house is nearly an hour away which means that scooter trips will be Deliberate Outings, not quick fun trips to the store.  It also means that we won’t be taking it to Martha’s Vineyard this weekend.  (Bright side?  No getting stuck in the wrong state or having it pushed over by strangers.)

4GreenTires.org wins generous grant from Keen Footwear

April 9th, 2008

keenstand.jpgYippeee! In December I submitted a grant application to Keen Footwear for my little not-for-profit project, 4GreenTires.org. Today I learned that the program was awarded a generous $5,000 runner up prize!

I can hardly wait to use the money to expand the program a bit and make a bigger impact on the community.

You can read the entry and all the other great ideas (four of which also won similar prizes). Thank you Keen Footwear!

P.S. Talk about a great company – they even have a “Ventura” line of cool sneaks.

Lon-Done. And we’re kind of sad about it.

iconpic.jpgYesterday we returned from our English vacation and we wish we were still back there. Each morning seemed like a Sunday to us with chances to lounge a bit, explore some, and eat and sip as much tea as we liked. The trip is pretty well chronicled in our Flickr album, but there are a couple of events that warrant additional explanation. Read the rest of this entry »

Spring Break – Crazy Parties on the Beaches of London

March 16th, 2008

2339027344_345283737a.jpgOkay, so there aren’t any beaches or crazy parties here, but it’s exactly how we wanted it – with great family, home made dinner, and lots of fun. We have finally joined Ann and John (in London)!

We flew here last night and spent today relaxing and strolling a bit. We don’t have enough good things to say about our treatment  — A&J are seasoned hosts and greeted us with a welcome pack that includes four reference books, train tickets and a cell phone — Beat that Ritz Carlton!

We’ll try and keep up the photography, but we make no promises (I recommend you check check back every now and then.)  Good night!

A Business I Should Have Thought of

March 9th, 2008

tumblebus_logo.gifMoments ago my sister wrote about an indoor jungle gym on wheels called Tumble Express. Imagine all the outdoor fun a kid could ever want, parked right in the driveway… …or on their street, more likely because this sucker is like 40 feet long. As someone who wants to make a product that brings pleasure or convenience to people, this idea rocks.

(Think it could run on biodiesel?)

A distant runner up is the Babson undergraduate company who is selling Beaver Slippers (yes, Hoss — safe for work.)

Hello? Remember Me?

March 1st, 2008

screen.jpg Whoa! Something new!

You probably didn’t think that would happen again. Truth is, I’ve been good and busy with the launch of my little business, the little non profit, talking with entrepreneurs about summer opportunities, classwork, and even a little birthday fun. But the best part? Everything I am doing is by choice…

So for lack of more photogentic activities of my own, I refer you to a someone elses.

Amily’s Three Healthy Boys!

February 12th, 2008

threefingerssmall.jpgGood news! Amily gave birth to three healthy boys this morning. She is alert and well – and one of the little fellas bypassed the NICU altogether. (This is a good thing.)  The other two should graduate out of NICU before long. Way to go Amily and Tyler!

Moore news to follow.

Amily Phone Tree

February 5th, 2008

smalleramily.jpgIf you are a member of the Amily fan club, go make a big X on your calendar on February 12th. Actually, try and fit three Xs on that date because she’s having triplets!

We have a long tradition of growing phone trees to notify friends of newly borns’ weights, names, lengths and all that good news. Let’s hope the previous phone trees have prepared us for next Tuesday when Amily’s scheduled to have a c-section and will increase the world’s population by 3 Moores. More on the phone tree after the jump.
