At Long last! Marc’s speech is up – and if you can stomach some harsh realities about the state of our environment, you’ll be rewarded by his optimism for the challenging future. I’ll let you formulate your own opinion, and read mine, after the jump.

It’s a pretty grim look — “the earth is deteriorating.” But Marc is no high school pollyanna — he can speak with real authority on this topic. I agree that the petroleum era is closing, or at least that it needs to. Based on his classmates’ cheers after Marc called them to “rise to the occasion,” NYU graduates seem willing to participate in this important change. Though it made the hair on the back of my neck stand up when he said it, I agree with Marc that no one’s resume or qualifications alone can turn this problem around.

Let’s hope there’s enough authenticity and originality in us to do it!
