California Trip – Part II: Lindsey’s Wedding
Where were we? Oh yeah – we’d just stepped off our little rented boat and into a littler rented car and zoomed to Pasadena, for my cousin’s wedding. Now, if the last post’s pictures have raised your expectations for photo evidence of this wedding, you’re going to be a bit disappointed. Somehow, we managed to fire off 27 photos and not a single one of the bride and groom. And the same goes for my sister, who tells me that she has lots of pictures of her daughter at the wedding (so do we), but none of Lindsey and Mark.
So I’ll try and paint a picture of the ceremony with words and pictures of other interesting components.
Big church. Arching ceiling. Trumpets playing in the choir loft. Officiated by Mark’s old history teacher and attended by a wedding party large enough to field an entire soccer game (not team, mind you, soccer game – including referees). The requiste happy tears, you-may-kiss-the-bride-smooch, and happy exit into these great cars!
A family friend supplied these, and two other similarly-perfect-vintage cars, to transport the wedding party.
Then the party began at my aunt and uncle’s backyard.
Now one detail that I should have told you about awhile ago — Sarah and I got really sunburned in Catalina. The kind of sunburn that made others wince a little. Now, see how bright it was out there? We’d have been in trouble had my uncle’s friend Packy not loaned us some more sunscreen. I decided to share the wealth and introduced myself to everyone standing in the sun and offered them sunscreen. This introduced me to a guy named “Sten” who became famous for a little stunt later that night. But that’s another story.
The food, band, dancing, perfect weather, toasts and fun of the evening made it memorable. …and the 5,300 lights all over the ivy covered walls didn’t hurt either.
Sarah, Rush and my ultra-hip Grandmother
Congratulations Lindsey and Mark!

Those old cars are great! Wish we could’ve found something like those for our wedding!
