Off the Road

Betty Rover probably thought she had her much-deserved retirement in California. Dad had it re-painted, lights repaired, seats re-upholstered and some rust removed while I was offshore.

Unfortunately (for the car) I came back.

And had the car shipped back to New England.

Rover in front of Peter Vollers' House
Woodstock, VT

During one of the annual "Winter Romp" excursions at Bruce's house, I met Peter Vollers - a Woodstock, VT Rover fanatic who encouraged me to make a couple of upgrades...

....
...including a new winch, taller tires and some frame work

Peter is also a great off-road host, leading a winter overnight where the temps fell to -17°F...

This deserves repeating: -17°F

...and my rear axle fell to pieces.

Rear half-shaft sheared off. Had to be forcably
removed from rear differential.
( Now serves as paperweight in my office)

Special thanks to Peter for towing me out of the woods.
Oh, and I got on car talk

Midnight freestyle action
I taught myself how to Freestyle at night when no one was watching.
