Off to Bermuda! (Updated, 6/19)
Team! On Friday I will depart Newport to race to Bermuda. I’m sailing with family friend Sheila McCurdy and Dave Brown and an all-star crew.
If you’re curious, you can read about the race at BermudaRace.com. Starting on Friday, look for links to a page on iBoatTrack.com where you can follow the boat’s progress. The boat’s name is Selkie and we are competing in the St. David’s Lighthouse Divsion.
If i get more information on how to track us, Sarah will post it in the comments area below. (See revised instructions, below)
(And I’m sure she’d love to hear from you during the 9 days I’ll be gone! I’m headed to Newport now to help with the set up and may be away from email until I come back.)
For good how-to instructions, read on.
Following Selike in 3 easy steps.
1. Visit iBoatTrack.
2. Change the division SDL_8.
3. Look for the light blue colored dot. That’s us.
Thanks for watching! – R

A tip for trackers — once you’re on iboat track and have chosen the SDL_8 class, you’ll probably want to zoom in a bit. On the upper right hand side of the screen you should see a Map Control Panel where you can zoom in on the boats. Right now, all the boats appear to be on top of each other if you don’t zoom…They should space out eventually, but if it’s a close race you’ll want to use the zoom feature!

also, I believe Selkie is in SDL_1, not SDL_8, so if you don’t see them come up when you choose 8, try 1 instead. or you can just choose the boat name from the list of all boats instead of choosing the division.

They made it! I don’t pretend to know anything about how the boat rating and handicapping system works, so don’t ask me, but after corrected time, Selkie came in second overall! Unfortunately, the one boat that beat them was in their same division, so they are also second in the St. David’s Lighthouse division (that’s the one for non-professional crew).
