For those of you who don’t follow this stuff: (I confess I was one of you till quite recently)

  • The Swiss were defending the cup they had previously won from New Zealand
  • New Zealand was back in the finals this time, having won the (Louis Vuitton) challenger series
  • The racing happened in Valencia, Spain (because there is no suitable water for yacht racing in Switzerland)
  • The final series is a first-to-five race championship. Alinghi was up 4 to 2 and … here’s the video:
